Chamber Awarded $40,000 Small Business Assistance Program Health Care and Insurance Education Grant

Oswego, NY-- Community Health Advocates (CHA), an initiative of the Community Service Society (CSS), announced Monday that the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce has been awarded a Small Business Assistance Program grant contract in the amount of $40,000. The Chamber will provide education and assistance to small businesses throughout Oswego County regarding health care and health insurance options.

“We are very pleased to have been given this opportunity to provide such valuable information not only to our Chamber Members, but to all small businesses throughout the county”, stated Beth Hilton Chamber executive director. “Prior to the grant and the training it will provide to our staff, it was necessary for us to refer those with heath care and insurance questions to other agencies and organizations. Through this program, we will be able to educate businesses on various aspects of health care and insurance, including various insurance options as well as the ever-changing issues surrounding Health Care Reform including the design and development of the State’s SHOP Exchange.”

The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce represents 500 businesses throughout Oswego County. For further information, call 343-7681, or visit www.oswegofultonchamber.com
